A protest in 1993 at the Lighthouse Reserve, adjacent to Macquarie Lighthouse, Vaucluse, was organised when the Commonwealth Government was planning to have this area developed for housing. Author, Bryce Courtenay spoke and many residents attended.  We found out about the protest only the night before, so we rushed to find broom handles and mop and attached signs:

Your heritage going cheap! & For Sale – Priceless!

Fortunately, this development did not eventuate and the Lighthouse Reserve remains for all to enjoy including dogs off the leash. Submitted by Eleanor Murphy
